Coble Cottage Challenge

Since opening three years ago guests, old and young, perhaps inspired by the art in Coble Cottage or our lovely beaches and nearby countryside have left a variety of items made or found during their stay. These have included painted pebbles, sketches, driftwood and the like.

This year we have decided to develop this a little and are inviting all guests to leave a made or found item which says something of their stay in the cottage and the area. At the end of the season Eva will use the items to produce an artwork which will try to capture how guests viewed their stay.

So far we've had a fishing net, driftwood, shells, pebbles, poems and a painted Coblefish badge produced during one of the many free art workshops provided throughout the season by KEAP Creative. Thank you to all who have left items so far - Eva loves discovering what is new in the basket each Saturday.

Coble Cottage awarded first prize in the Tourism category at Wansbeck Business Awards. Eva was delighted to collect her certificate and trophy from Brendan Healey at this prestigious event in North Seaton on Thursday 24th September 2009.

Four Star grading confirmed for 2010

Following our annual inspection Coble Cottage has again been awarded 4 stars and for the second year running seen an increase in our overall score. Guest information, personal touches, bedding, bed linen, bedroom decoration and cleanliness were all judged to be excellent by our assessor who said "It is good to note that the accommodation has been well maintained to high standards throughout. Cleanliness of a consistently high standard was observed."

A Walk Through Time in Newbiggin

Coble Cottage artworks feature in this newly released DVD which takes us on a walk through Newbiggin from the old Railway Station down Front Street to the Golf Club and back along the Promenade giving a potted history of the village en route and comparing historical footage with the modern day equivalents. A copy is available to watch in Coble Cottage and your own copy can be purchased for £7 with all profits from sales going to The Samaritan's Purse Charity.

New for 2010

With new carpeting for the lounge, dining room, stairs and landing and a lovely new Imperial Blue Denby dinner service (which with a bit of luck will match the colour of the sea during the summer months) guests visiting Coble Cottage this year will be able to enjoy their holiday in even greater style and comfort.
